Learning Objective: Understand the significance and benefits of integrating cybersecurity into innovative biomedical products in healthcare services and products.
Industry 4.0 is a shift from industrial machinery as the primary means of production towards high-performance tuning of the human body and mind with the integration of connected things and objects into the ‘intelligence’ ecosystem of society using intelligent solutions and data analytics to broaden the creation of products and services for all aspects of the human experience. Industry 4.0 introduced a shift in innovation towards integrating physical things and digital technology as a series of global standards designed to accelerate innovation and reduce cost barriers in innovation and product development. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) provides innovation in healthcare using the integration of our physical, digital, environmental, and biological resources for the first time in recorded human history. For instance, the healthcare industry is experiencing significant and measurable progress in the battle with cancer using nanotechnology particles to target cancer cells without damaging the functioning cells within the human body. This is a minute example of the disruptive technologies and innovations that are the quality of life for humanity that will require cybersecurity to protect the patient and the accuracy of the smart equipment.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the need for cybersecurity in connected devices within the healthcare industry.
- Examine the benefits in cost and speed-to-diagnosis when risk is managed through cybersecurity best practices for smart connected devices.
- Further their knowledge of the emerging innovations in the IoMT industry.

Learning Objective: Develop time management skills for better organization and productivity.
Students who have learned how to manage time during high school effectively are better prepared for the rigors of college study. Regardless of preparation, it takes time to adjust to college. Improve your time management skills by setting goals and staying within them. Even students who manage time well during high school often struggle when they begin college. Students are overwhelmed with large course loads, extracurricular activities, and other social activities. Although being in college can be overwhelming, completing everything that must be done in a timely and efficient manner is possible. Developing time management and organizational skills is the key to working efficiently. The best way to better manage time is to create daily schedules. Most organized people plan daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. This seminar will show you how to be self-motivated, leading to better organizational skills, productivity, and efficiency.
After this seminar, the participants will be able to:
- Outline long-term goals and a plan to obtain them.

2023 BEYA (2403) Smart Manufacturing: The Future of Making is Digital (Autodesk)
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Learning Objective: Attendees will explore the phases of the intelligent manufacturing lifecycle and the innovative technologies empowering green initiatives in global manufacturing.
Smart manufacturing is an ecosystem of platforms designed to digitize all phases of the manufacturing lifecycle [research, design, simulate, develop, build, distribute, remanufacture, recycle]. Technologies such as the metaverse, mixed reality, nano, quantum, analytics, robotics, etc., have matured to the productization phase of manufacturing and supply chain distribution. Smart manufacturing provides a pathway to transform product development and manufacturing by integrating a continuous data feedback loop from deployment in production environments to retirement, recycling, and remanufacturing to redistribution. Providing a data path for manufacturing increases the analysis and analytics necessary to design and build next-generation sustainable and environmentally friendly products and goods. Integrating these technologies requires an advanced delivery platform capable of mixed reality experiences and digital “twinning” of physical things. Smart manufacturing will fully utilize innovations like the metaverse to leverage the mixed reality and 3D visualization experiences necessary to empower green science and research, advanced learning, and connected global community sharing.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the technologies empowering smart manufacturing.
- Discuss the market differentiation and new customer experiences available to organizations that leverage smart manufacturing strategies.
- Explore how smart manufacturing can support green research and development.
- Understand how smart devices provide data essential to understanding the measurable value points of green manufacturing lifecycles.
